【7:00】
-----------------------------------------------------
Planned Exam Dates: Jul. 31 ~ Aug.3
REMAINING DAYS: 170 days
-----------------------------------------------------

I couldn’t wake up early in the morning today, because I’d been awake till 2:30 am last night, searching for a packaged tour with reasonable price on the internet…

Yesterday I had to do my best to settle things to book my seats in the Test Center in Hawaii:
I gave a phone call to the Test Center in Hawaii before I left for the office in the morning. It was 7:30. Since I’d never given a call to overseas (, though I often receive ones FROM overseas), first I had to check out how to make an international phone call via the Internet.
・・・ Ok, so it seemed that I have to “0033 - 010 -1” at the head of the phone number when calling to US. ・・・
So, getting a bit nervous, I made a call to the Test Center in Hawaii. To my relief, there wasn’t much trouble in our communication over the phone, and the guy over the phone said there seemed to be some trouble with their computer server system, which, he said, is going to recover in a couple of days. And he added that I should book my seats by calling again if it doesn’t seem to recover.
I checked out the Test Center’s website at the lunch break in the office.

Ah, the calendar of July started functioning now! The August calendar is … out of order still now. Was it my phone call in the morning that made them start examining their system? Well, I guess I can sit for the USCPA exam in August, too.

So, I’m going to sit for the exam in Hawaii. Now that’s one down.

Next, I had to move on to find how to get to Hawaii. I’m pretty much awkward in these things, because I’ve almost never been to any of foreign countries in my life except for my honeymoon trip and a very memorable Boy Scout experience in my university days.

I visited H.I.S., a major discount tourist agency, on my way back from the office in the evening. (I didn’t work overtime today; this is the first time in the last six months, I suppose!) ・・・But it was closing when I arrived at one of HIS branch… I picked out some brochures on which it said HAWAII!
On the train back home, I examined the varieties of tour plans in the brochures. Naturally I felt, “it’d be very exciting to read these things if this were not for USCPA EXAM… ” (sigh)

Any of the packaged plans displayed on the pages of the brochure all costs

JPY 160,000 to 200,000

.

・・・ I had been underestimating the travel cost to Hawaii.

Back at home, I gingerly mentioned the travel expense to be incurred wondering what my wife would say about it… To my great relief, she expressed kind understanding for this. Now, with a lot of support that I get from people around me or even via the Internet, I have to pass the exam, definitely,
