Akiyoshidai

This area is famous for its unique geologic formation and features: the karst tableland.
The rock bed of the land has been eroded with water for millions of years, which resulted in the irregular roughness in the form of the land.
In Akiyoshidai, you can find a big mouth of cave eating a long line of tourists.
The road leads to the Japan's largest limestone cave, Shuhodo, which spreads under the karst tableland of Akiyoshidai.
The air is so cool in the cave that I felt as if I was walking in a fridge.
Although my compact camera failed to capture the atmosphere due to the lack of light, the scene was very magnificent!!
I walked through the dark, serene route. Over my head spread a large ceiling with so many lime stalactites, each of which was carved in unique style by the hands of God. Once experiencing this, those attractions of Universal Studio or Disney Land now seem to be just kid stuff.
We learn about Akiyoshidai in a class of social studies at elementary school, and I wasn’t exception. But I never imagined the place was as great as this. I hope I’ll be back here again some time in future.
