My mother language is Japanese, but I put my articles here in English mostly because I don’t have any other chance to use English in other parts of my life (>_<) and I could easily forget English if I don’t use it very often. I still have so many unfamiliar English words. By keeping my diary in English, therefore, I can have a chance to come across some English words which aren’t familiar to me, and it gives me a good opportunity to learn those words, improving my English vocabulary.
There’s a saying “Practice makes perfect.” Sometimes it’s more effective to spear much time for practice than to use too much time for preparative learning. Lack of preparation would have you trip over some parts. Then you can focus on only where you tripped, as I keep practicing English everyday and consult with a dictionary only when I got some problems.
The same thing is true to the study of CPA exam prep. It is important, of course, to achieve deep understanding and analysis of those topical areas, but we’ll never know how much we understand it unless we actually try solving those questions under a circumstance which is as similar as the real one.
After all, we cannot learn to be able to swim as long as we're practicing on tatami mat; we have to dive into the water!
