孫子曰:凡用兵之法,全國為上,破國次之﹔全軍為上,破軍次之﹔
全旅為上,破旅次之﹔全卒為上,破卒次之﹔全伍為上,破伍次之。
是故百戰百勝,非善之善也﹔不戰而屈人之兵,善之善者也。

According to Sun Zi’s lesson on war strategy, it isn’t the best to fight and conquer in all your battles; the supreme excellence is in breaking the enemy's resistance without fighting .

Above message really comes home to me these days.
It seems that I often refute other person’s logic and argue him/her down.
Though my silver tongue might win in most of those battles, I feel it’s time to change my manner of business.

It’s easy to say
“Your idea has a problem because ・・・・. Therefore we should rather do ・・・. By doing so, we can avoid the problem and also attain the goal, because・・・. Don’t you think so?”

But, of course, people cannot be happy when I talk in such a manner.
And I’m not happy either, being ashamed of my own attitude, which I’m afraid could appear arrogant in a team.

It’s important, of course, to guide the team to the right direction, which is not so difficult with one’s logical mind and objective view.

But it’s not as easy to have the team walk in the right direction voluntarily. It’s difficult to have the team find the right direction without being reminded of factors to be taken into consideration.

It’s easy for me or anyone to remind the team. But, it’d be more wonderful if I can have them feel as if they found the problem by themselves, which could lead to smoother operation than in the case where the problem is pointed out by someone else.

One of my purposes in this FY should be to acquire the method to break the enemy’s resistance without fighting. I need to prepare strategies for that!
