←Click here if you liked today's diary. Thank you.

Good morning!

The other day, I tried making a comparison between TAKING ONLY ONE SUBJECT AT ONE TIME and TAKING SEVERAL SUBJECTS AT ONE TIME, concluding that both two approaches require almost the same amount of effort. And I added that I took the latter approach, TAKING SEVERAL SUBJECTS AT ONE TIME, because I didn’t think I can complete memorizing things so quickly in a short period of time..

By taking this strategy, I was allowed to take time to memorize things, about four times longer than the former approach.

The difficulty of my strategy was that, although I could take longer time to memorize things, I had to memorize so many things and keep the memory till the exam dates.

But I had no choice. So I tried many kinds of things so that I can CARRY OVER what I reviewed to the following days.

The point is how to review so many things at one time.

When I watched 笑っていいとも the other day, I saw them playing such a game as below.
TV personality A, B, C, D, E, and F took turns to express what occurred to him/her after repeating what was mentioned by the successors.

A “Car.”
B “Car and Book.”
C “Car, Book, and Desk.”
D “Car, Book, Desk, and Clock.”
E “Car, Book, Desk, Clock, and Telephone.”
F “Car, Book, Desk… Ah, I cannot remember!!

In the game above, F was the loser.

This game reminded me of my USCPA study.
For instance, when I was prepared for AUD,

Day1 PLANNING
Day2 PLANNING and INTERNAL CONTROL
Day3 PLANNING, INTERNAL CONTROL and SUBSTANTIVE TEST
Day4 PLANNING, INTERNAL CONTROL, SUBSTANTIVE TEST, and SAMPLING
Day5 PLANNING, INTERNAL CONTROL, SUBSTANTIVE TEST, SAMPLING ,and REVIEW

Compared to Day1, the amount to be covered on Day5 is much vaster! But, of course, we should focus on the new topic of the day and our review of the previously covered topics shouldn’t take as much time.

If I put it in another way using the following model,

Day1 A
Day2 (A) + B
Day3 (A+B) +C
Day4 (A+B+C)+D
Day5 (A+B+C+D)+E

the items in the parenthesis should be reviewed as quickly as possible so that we can focus on the new topic, which is put outside of the parenthesis in the model above.

It might appear very tough to do so on Day 5, because there are so many items in the parenthesis. But it is NOT as hard as you imagine, because you have already learned them one time or more. For example, Item A is reviewed as many as 5 times by Day5.

So, actually it is easier than we imagined first, if we can do it in a EFFICIENT manner.
If it’s INEFFICIENT, it’s a mess.

On the top of this article is the picture of all the textbooks that I used in my prep for USCPA study.

If we do what I’m suggesting using those textbooks in the picture above, theoretically speaking, we have to thumb through all the pages of the above textbooks on the day before the exam.
It’s practically impossible, of course.
So I devised some gadgets to make it practical, example of which I’ll introduce tomorrow.

1日目 A
2日目 (A)+B
3日目 (A+B) +C
4日目 (A+B+C)+D
5日目 (A+B+C+D)+E
